  • Youngstown resident recounts events of the Titanic sinking

    Mary Jones Chilcote recently shared the events of the Titanic sinking as lived and seen through the eyes of her mother, Caroline Bonnell. Caroline, who died in 1950 as a result of skin cancer, left behind her a scrapbook filled with memories and news clippings about the tragic sinking.

  • PNC Bank moves to new green location in Youngstown

    The Youngstown PNC Bank, formerly located on Wick Avenue, moved about a block away this week on Monday, March 12. The branch is now located on Federal Street in the City Center One Building. The first floor location will not only allow the bank to operate in a more efficient manner, it will also allow them to conserve funds on energy expenses.

  • Youngstown residents walk for a cause

    Residents in Youngstown gathered Saturday, February 11 to take a stand in the community against violence and crime in the area. A total of five walks took place on the west side in support of maintaining a peaceful and thriving community. The events were organized by the West Side Citizens Coalition. Karen Fox, president of the coalition, stated that all of the participants were in this together, walking to keep the neighborhoods strong and safe. Some members carried a banner that read We Love Youngstown.

    A discount grocer, Bottom Dollar Foods, prepares to expand its chain of stores this year with the opening of its first store in Ohio. The store is currently getting things ready to expand its business to the Youngstown area.

  • Youngstown youth spread yuletide cheer

    Young students in teacher, Courtney Cruz classroom at the Mollie Kessler School made sure children at the Rescue Mission in Youngstown didnt do without this Christmas. The students have been studying about homelessness and have developed a strong desire to help others this holiday season. As a classroom project, the young students selected to provide a Christmas memory for children at the Rescue Mission. They recalled visiting the mission in the past and wanted to do something for the children who reside there.
